Myrtle Beach Family Photography Pricing & Booking
The most common first question is always about price. Here is everything you need to know before reaching out.
How much does a Myrtle Beach family portrait session cost?
Pasha Belman Photography offers several session lengths to match different family sizes and needs. Full pricing details are available at the Myrtle Beach family photography pricing page. Pricing is not published here because it changes seasonally and Pasha occasionally offers availability discounts shared only through direct inquiry.
What does not change is what is included. Every session covers the full golden hour, personal photography by Pasha from start to finish, and a complete edited gallery delivered within 2 to 3 days. No sitting fees. No associate photographers. No hidden charges.
How do I book a Myrtle Beach family session?
Start by submitting an inquiry through the contact form with your preferred dates and group size. Pasha will confirm availability, walk you through session options, and answer any questions before you commit to anything. A deposit is required to hold your date. Once the deposit is received, your date is locked in and you will receive a session guide with location details, wardrobe recommendations, and a timeline.
How far in advance should I book?
Summer dates from Memorial Day through Labor Day fill months in advance. If you are planning a summer vacation to Myrtle Beach and want a family session, reaching out two to three months ahead gives you the best chance at your preferred dates. Fall is the most popular local season, particularly October and November. Those dates also fill quickly. Spring and winter sessions are generally easier to book on shorter notice.
Is a deposit required and is it refundable?
Yes, a deposit is required to hold your session date. It is deducted from your total session price so it is not an additional fee. The deposit is fully refundable if rain prevents the session and it cannot be rescheduled. For non-weather cancellations, the refund window and policy are outlined at the time of booking. Pasha does not hold dates on verbal agreements.
Is there a travel fee for sessions outside Myrtle Beach?
Sessions anywhere on the Grand Strand from North Myrtle Beach to Pawleys Island carry no additional travel fee. Pasha regularly photographs in Garden City Beach, Surfside Beach, Litchfield Beach, Huntington Beach State Park, Murrells Inlet, and Georgetown without extra charge. For sessions significantly outside the Grand Strand, a small travel fee may apply and is discussed at inquiry.
Your Myrtle Beach Family Session
What to expect on the day of your Myrtle Beach family portrait session.
How long is a family portrait session?
Sessions run approximately one hour. For larger extended family groups, sessions may run slightly longer to cover multiple groupings. Pasha does not rush. One session is scheduled per day, which means your golden hour window is fully protected. An hour is enough time to photograph full group shots, smaller family units, couples, grandparents with grandchildren, siblings, and individual portraits at multiple locations.
Does Pasha personally photograph every session?
Yes. Every session is personally photographed by Pasha Belman from start to finish. There are no associate photographers, no second shooters filling in, and no surprises on session day. The photographer behind every image in the portfolio is the same one who shows up at your session. The consistency of style, editing, and experience you see across 250+ five-star reviews comes from one person doing the work every time.
What time of day are sessions scheduled?
All sessions are scheduled at golden hour, either at sunrise or sunset. This is not a preference. It is the direct result of 15 years photographing families along the South Carolina coast. Harsh midday shadows, squinting, and flat overexposed backgrounds are problems that simply do not exist at golden hour. Sunset sessions begin 60 to 90 minutes before the sun drops. Sunrise sessions are available for families with early risers or those who want a quieter beach.
The Myrtle Beach photography weather guide shows exact sunrise and sunset times for every month of the year.
How many photos will we receive?
Pasha typically takes 200 to 400 frames during a one-hour session depending on group size and the number of groupings. You receive the full edited selection, not a curated handful. Every image is individually processed, color corrected, and edited to the same standard you see in the portfolio. This is not a studio model where you receive 25 images and purchase more. The gallery is the complete body of work from your session.
Can we do multiple poses and family groupings?
Absolutely. Pasha builds the session around your family. Full group portraits, couples, grandparents with grandkids, siblings, individual portraits, and any other grouping you want are part of the session. If you have poses or ideas from Instagram or Pinterest, bring them. Pasha welcomes direction from families and works around your ideas in addition to his own direction. Groups are also photographed at multiple locations within the same area when possible.
What about small children and toddlers?
Small children and toddlers are a regular part of Myrtle Beach family sessions and Pasha is experienced with every age and temperament. Parents often worry that an hour is too long for young kids. The opposite is usually true. Sessions with toddlers benefit from more time, not less, because kids warm up at their own pace and the best images often come after they relax and start exploring.
A nap earlier in the day goes a long way for a sunset session. Kids who are used to early bedtimes often get a second wind on the beach even after their normal cutoff. Cooler evening temperatures and the experience of the beach at golden hour work in your favor every time.
Myrtle Beach Family Photography Locations
Where Myrtle Beach family sessions take place and which spots work best for different families.
Where do Myrtle Beach family portrait sessions take place?
Sessions are available anywhere along the Grand Strand. Pasha regularly photographs families in Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Cherry Grove, Ocean Drive, Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach, Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island, and Litchfield Beach. Pasha comes to you. Most locations within the Grand Strand carry no additional travel fee. If you have a specific spot in mind, reach out and Pasha will let you know whether it works for the kind of images you want.
What is the best location for family photos in Myrtle Beach?
Huntington Beach State Park in Murrells Inlet is one of the most versatile locations on the Grand Strand. It offers open beach, sheltered dune areas with less wind, Spanish moss trees, and the historic Atalaya Castle for an entirely different backdrop. The park is significantly less crowded than the main Myrtle Beach areas and provides multiple distinct settings within walking distance.
For families staying in North Myrtle Beach, Cherry Grove and Ocean Drive work extremely well. The beach there tends to be wider and less developed, giving a cleaner backdrop at golden hour. For the lowcountry feel, Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island offer images that look nothing like standard beach portraits.
Do you photograph families at Huntington Beach State Park?
Yes. Huntington Beach State Park is one of the most requested locations and a consistent favorite. The variety of settings within a single location gives the feel of multiple locations in one session. The beach is one of the least developed stretches on the Grand Strand, and the park interior offers shade, dramatic dunes, and the Spanish moss canopy that defines the lowcountry look. The park charges a small entry fee per vehicle which Pasha factors into session planning.
Can we do our session at our vacation rental?
Yes. Many vacation rentals along the Grand Strand are directly on or near the beach, which makes them a practical and personal location choice. Familiarity with the setting often helps kids and extended family groups relax more quickly than a public beach. If your rental has private beach access or an oceanfront area with good evening light, mention it when you inquire. Pasha can assess whether the surrounding area works and suggest nearby alternatives if needed.
Do you photograph families in North Myrtle Beach?
Yes. North Myrtle Beach is one of the most requested areas and Pasha photographs there regularly. Cherry Grove, Ocean Drive, Crescent Beach, and Windy Hill are all covered with no additional travel fee. Families staying in North Myrtle Beach do not need to travel south for their session.
Do you photograph families in Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet?
Yes. Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet produce some of the most distinct images in the portfolio. The combination of Spanish moss, tidal creeks, lowcountry marshes, and unspoiled beach gives families a look that is genuinely different from the standard Myrtle Beach beach portrait. If you want images that could not have been taken anywhere else, these two areas deliver that consistently.
Are there any locations where photography is restricted?
Professional photography is restricted on the beach within certain Myrtle Beach city limits. This is a relatively small section of the beach and does not affect the majority of session locations. Areas south of the city limits and throughout North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Garden City, Murrells Inlet, and Pawleys Island are unrestricted. Pasha holds all required permits and handles compliance logistics so families do not need to worry about it.
What to Wear
Clothing choices make a bigger difference in beach portraits than most families expect.
What should our family wear to a beach session?
The goal is coordination, not matching. Families that coordinate colors and textures while each wearing something slightly different look natural and put together. Choose two or three colors that work together and build outfits around those. Neutral palettes with a single accent color photograph exceptionally well in golden hour light because they complement rather than compete with the warm tones. Once your session is confirmed, Pasha sends a personalized wardrobe guide with specific suggestions based on your location and the look you are going for.
What colors photograph best at the beach?
Warm neutrals work extremely well at golden hour. Cream, ivory, tan, soft blush, sage green, and chambray blue are all strong choices. White is a classic that almost always works but requires the whole group to coordinate since mismatched whites stand out in group shots. Navy and dark denim are reliable options that are flattering on nearly every body type and photograph cleanly in evening light.
Colors to approach with caution include bright neons, heavily busy patterns with multiple competing colors, and stark black in summer heat. A single bold accent color in an otherwise neutral palette can be striking. Six people in six different bold colors usually reads as chaotic in the final images.
Should everyone wear matching outfits?
Not necessarily. Coordinated is better than matched. The most compelling family portraits typically feature outfits that feel like they belong together without being identical. Individual personality comes through when people feel like themselves, which is hard to achieve when everyone is wearing exactly the same thing. The exception is when matching is intentional and everyone is enthusiastic about it. A family that loves coordinating and has done it before usually pulls it off beautifully.
What about kids outfits specifically?
Comfort matters more than any other factor for young children. A child who is uncomfortable, itchy, or restricted by their outfit will show it in every single frame. Choose something they have worn before if possible. Avoid stiff collars, scratchy fabrics, or anything that requires constant adjustment. Girls in dresses work beautifully at the beach but should be long enough to sit, run, and play in without becoming a distraction. Shoes are largely irrelevant for beach sessions since most families go barefoot.
What should we avoid wearing to a beach family session?
Large logos and graphic text draw attention away from faces and expressions. Thin fabrics that become clingy or transparent in wind and humidity can be distracting on camera. Very short hemlines are challenging on the beach where you may be sitting in sand or posing on uneven terrain. Clothing that requires constant adjustment takes time away from the photography itself.
Beyond clothing, avoid spray tan applied the night before since it can look uneven under full editing. Sunscreen applied immediately before the session can leave a white cast on the skin that shows on camera. Apply it earlier and allow it to fully absorb.
Vacationing Families in Myrtle Beach
A large portion of Myrtle Beach family sessions are with families visiting from out of town. Here is how the process works when you are planning from a distance.
We are visiting Myrtle Beach on vacation. Can we book a family session?
Yes. Vacationing families make up a significant portion of the annual session schedule. The entire booking process works remotely. You can inquire, review options, book, and pay the deposit entirely online without any calls or in-person visits. Once booked, you receive a complete session guide with location directions, parking details, what time to arrive, and what to expect so nothing is left to figure out when you get here.
Vacation family photos along the South Carolina coast tend to become an annual tradition. Many families who book for the first time during a summer trip return the following year and the year after. The images from your vacation are often the ones that end up framed.
How far in advance should vacationing families book?
As early as possible. Summer on the Grand Strand is one of the busiest photography seasons in South Carolina and dates fill months ahead of arrival. Families who know their vacation dates should reach out the moment their trip is confirmed. Late May through August books out fast. September and October are significantly easier but still popular enough that early inquiry is the right move.
If you are reading this close to your trip dates and your preferred dates are no longer available, it is still worth reaching out. Cancellations happen and last-minute openings occasionally become available.
How quickly will we receive our photos after the session?
Galleries are delivered within 2 to 3 days of your session. For vacationing families who are only in town for a week, this matters a great deal. You may have your gallery before you leave the Grand Strand. The gallery is delivered as a private online link accessible from any device, anywhere. Full resolution files are included so prints of any size are possible from the download.
What if our vacation plans change after we book?
If your travel dates change, reach out as early as possible and Pasha will do his best to find an alternative date that works. Rescheduling flexibility depends on availability at the time of the request. The deposit policy and rescheduling guidelines are covered in the booking agreement you receive when the session is confirmed. The earlier a change request is made, the more options are available.
Large Groups & Extended Families
Multi-generational reunion portraits and large extended family sessions are a regular part of the schedule.
Can you accommodate large family groups?
Yes. Pasha Belman Photography regularly photographs extended family groups of 15, 20, and 25 or more people along the Grand Strand. Large groups require additional planning on location logistics, grouping sequences, and timing. When you inquire, mention your group size so the session can be planned accordingly. The one-session-per-day policy is especially important for large groups because there is no pressure to rush through groupings to accommodate another family waiting behind you.
What is the best location for a large extended family portrait in Myrtle Beach?
Huntington Beach State Park is the top choice for large groups. The variety of settings and the relatively uncrowded beach give large groups room to spread out for wide compositions. The castle and tree areas provide shade and a contained backdrop for tighter groupings. Having multiple distinct settings within walking distance means a large group can move efficiently without long travel between locations. Pasha can advise on the best option based on where your group is staying.
How do we organize groupings for a large family session?
Pasha handles the sequencing of groupings during the session. The standard approach is to begin with the full group portrait while everyone has energy and the best light, then work through smaller groupings systematically. A brief planning conversation before or at the start of the session identifies which combinations are most important. A helpful exercise before the session is to write out every grouping you want photographed so nothing is missed in the moment.
Do you photograph multi-generational family reunion portraits?
Yes. Reunion portraits are among the most meaningful sessions Pasha photographs. Some of the most requested images are the ones with three and four generations together. If your family is gathering in Myrtle Beach for a reunion and wants to document it, early booking is essential since reunion weekends typically align with peak summer dates that fill quickly. Reach out with your reunion dates as soon as they are set.
Myrtle Beach Maternity Sessions
Maternity portraits at golden hour along the South Carolina coast are among the most striking images in the portfolio.
Do you photograph maternity sessions in Myrtle Beach?
Yes. Maternity sessions follow the same approach as family sessions with golden hour timing, the same location options across the Grand Strand, and the same 2 to 3 day gallery delivery. Pricing and session details are included on the Myrtle Beach family photography pricing page.
When during pregnancy is the best time for a maternity session?
Most maternity photographers recommend 28 to 34 weeks as the ideal window. The bump is clearly visible and beautifully rounded, energy levels are generally comfortable, and mobility is not yet as restricted as it becomes in the final weeks. Before 28 weeks the pregnancy may not show as prominently as most clients want. After 34 weeks, comfort and mobility become increasingly variable. Every pregnancy is different so if your timing falls outside this window, reach out to discuss options.
What should I wear for a maternity session at the beach?
Flowy fabrics that move with the breeze photograph exceptionally well at the beach during golden hour. Long dresses with stretchy fabric that accommodates the bump while allowing movement are the most popular choice. Many clients wear two outfits, one more elevated for formal portraits and one more relaxed for candid beach moments. Comfort and confidence translate directly into the images. Garments that fight the bump, require constant adjustment, or create tension lines across the belly do not photograph well regardless of how they look on a hanger.
Can my partner and older children be included in the maternity session?
Absolutely. Including a partner, older children, or the whole existing family in a maternity session is one of the most meaningful ways to document the pregnancy. Pasha photographs both solo maternity portraits and family groupings during the same session. Older children interacting with the bump produces some of the most emotionally resonant images in the portfolio.
Myrtle Beach Weather & Cancellation Policy
Weather on the South Carolina coast is unpredictable. Here is exactly what happens when it does not cooperate.
What happens if it rains on the day of our session?
Sessions are rescheduled at no charge when rain prevents the session from taking place. A backup date is reserved at the time of booking for this reason. Summer afternoon storms along the Grand Strand are common but move quickly and often clear well before golden hour. A rain forecast in the morning does not mean the session will be cancelled. Pasha monitors conditions throughout the day and makes the call as close to session time as possible. If the session cannot be rescheduled during your vacation window due to rain, the deposit is fully refunded.
What about wind? Can sessions still happen on windy days?
Wind is part of beach photography and Pasha works with it rather than against it. A light to moderate breeze adds movement and life to images, especially with flowing dresses and hair. Strong wind becomes a challenge primarily for hair, which is why Huntington Beach State Park is often recommended. The park has sheltered tree and castle areas that provide wind protection as an alternative to the open beach when conditions are gusty. If wind is a significant concern, mention it when booking and Pasha will select a location that maximizes protection.
What is the best time of year for Myrtle Beach family photos?
Every month has something to offer. October and November are the most popular local months because temperatures are comfortable, summer crowds have thinned, and golden hour light extends later into the evening giving more scheduling flexibility. The ocean is still warm enough for barefoot shots without the chill of early spring.
Summer sunrise sessions from June through August are stunning. The beach is largely empty before 7am, the ocean is warm, and the soft morning light is exceptional. For vacationing families who cannot commit to a sunset session, a sunrise alternative is worth considering. The Myrtle Beach photography weather guide breaks down light conditions, ocean temperatures, and average wind for every month.
What if my family needs to cancel for a non-weather reason?
Cancellations and reschedules for non-weather reasons are handled on a case by case basis. The deposit policy and any applicable refund window are clearly outlined in the booking agreement at the time of confirming. The earlier a cancellation or reschedule request is made, the more options are available. Reaching out as soon as you know you need to make a change is always the right move.
After the Session
What happens after the golden hour ends and how your gallery is delivered, stored, and used.
How are our photos delivered?
Your gallery is delivered as a private online link within 2 to 3 days of your session. The gallery is accessible from any device, anywhere in the world, which is particularly useful for vacationing families who may be back home by the time it arrives. From the gallery you can download all images at full resolution, share the gallery with family members, and order prints directly. Full resolution digital files with a copyright release are included with every session.
Can we order prints through Pasha Belman Photography?
Yes. Print ordering is available directly through your online gallery. Prints are produced at a professional photo lab and are available in a range of sizes, materials, and mounting options including canvas wraps, metal prints, framed prints, and standard photo prints. You are never required to order through the gallery. The digital files give you full rights to print anywhere you choose.
Do we own the rights to our photos?
Yes. A copyright release is included with every session, which gives you full rights to print your images at any lab in any size for personal use. The images remain in your possession indefinitely once downloaded. Pasha Belman Photography retains the right to use images for portfolio and marketing purposes, which is standard practice in professional photography. If you have specific privacy requirements, mention them at booking and they will be noted in your agreement.
How long will our gallery be available online?
Galleries are maintained online for one year from delivery. After that period the gallery may no longer be accessible through the online link. Downloading your full gallery to a personal hard drive or cloud storage shortly after delivery is strongly recommended. Do not rely on the online gallery as your permanent backup. If you need to access images after the gallery has expired, reach out directly. Pasha maintains image archives and has fulfilled requests from clients years after their original session.
Can we request specific edits on certain images?
Yes. Every image in your gallery is individually edited for color, exposure, and artistic quality. For specific requests such as removing a distracting background element, targeted skin retouching, or other adjustments, a reasonable number of requests can be accommodated at no additional charge. Requests involving significant compositing or alterations beyond standard retouching are discussed on a case by case basis. Pasha's approach is to capture images that need minimal post-processing intervention, which is why the editing turnaround is 2 to 3 days rather than weeks.
