Myrtle Beach Photography — Month by Month Guide
Pasha Belman Photography shoots exclusively at sunrise and sunset along the Grand Strand. Every session — whether a Myrtle Beach family portrait, senior session, engagement shoot, or wedding — is timed around the two golden windows when the light on the Grand Strand is genuinely extraordinary.
Winter (January, February, December)
Winter sunrise sessions on an empty Myrtle Beach are some of the most cinematic we offer. Low sun angles create extended golden hour quality light throughout the morning. Sunrise winds average 5 to 8 mph — calm and manageable. Sunset arrives early around 5:00 to 6:00 PM, making evening sessions accessible for families with young children. Evening winds pick up to 10 to 14 mph by sunset, adding natural movement and energy to every shot.
Spring (March, April, May)
Spring is one of the strongest seasons for photography on the Grand Strand. March sunrise winds average 7 to 9 mph — fresh and comfortable. By sunset the breeze builds to 12 to 15 mph, which looks spectacular on camera. April brings late sunsets approaching 8 PM and dramatic pre-storm skies. May sunrise sessions before 7 AM are among the most peaceful and stunning we shoot all year, with calm morning winds around 6 to 8 mph.
Summer (June, July, August)
Summer is our most booked season. June, July, and August sunrise sessions feature the calmest winds of the year — typically 4 to 7 mph in the early morning, making the ocean surface glassy and conditions ideal. By sunset the sea breeze picks up to 8 to 12 mph, which adds energy and movement without being uncomfortable. Ocean water at 80 to 83 degrees makes every water shot effortless.
Fall (September, October, November)
October is the single best month on the Grand Strand. Morning winds average 6 to 9 mph — perfectly calm for sunrise sessions. Evening winds settle to 9 to 13 mph by golden hour, creating the ideal combination of movement and comfort. September sees summer crowds leave while light and conditions improve daily. November brings early sunsets and near-constant golden hour quality light from mid-morning onward.
