We chose Oldfield River Club due to its low country appeal, and it is near a place where I used to spend my summers as a child. We both wanted an outdoor venue near the water that handled the catering and drinks, and Oldfield was the complete package.
I have always wanted a timeless, all-lace wedding dress with long sleeves. However, I have a boho type spirit, so I was not sure if I would be able to find a dress that fit my personality with those dress qualities. I found Grace Loves Lace on Pinterest, and immediately fell in love with their Inca gown. It had everything that I wanted – it was classy, free-spirited, and gorgeous all in one!
I would have to say it was the first time I saw Matt when I walked down the aisle. We decided not to do a first look that day, and seeing his reaction when I walked down the aisle was a moment that I will treasure forever.
Matt and I wanted a photographer who we would feel relaxed around, and who would help us be more ourselves during photos. In addition, we are both avid lovers of the outdoors, so we wanted a photographer that knew how to appreciate the beauty of nature around us while capturing our special moments. Pasha Belman Photography was the perfect fit for us! During our first meeting with Pasha, he immediately made us both feel at ease and we loved that we were able to laugh and by ourselves throughout the process.
Let people help you! I am a very OCD person, so I wanted to have my hands in every aspect of planning, but you will eventually loose your mind. Accept help, especially from people who have already been through the process. Also, do not sweat the small things. Every couple wants every detail to be perfect, but I promise you that on your big day you will not remember if the certain candle holders made it to a certain table, etc. You are going to be so over the top happy that none of the small stuff will matter, so just relax and enjoy!

Tell us about your love story.
“We first laid eyes on each other on a summer day in Charleston, SC before classes started at The Citadel. This first “meeting” actually consisted of no words at all, but it was a moment that we both remember like it was yesterday. I remember Matt’s piercingly beautiful blue eyes, and he remembers this curly-haired blonde who he thought was another cadet’s sister. Little did we know that he would be in the genetics class where I was serving as the teacher’s assistant for the entire semester. I would always get so nervous before those classes because he would always be sitting front row and center, and he would always find a reason to come to my tutoring sessions after class. After the class ended, our paths continued to cross, which I thought was by chance but later found out that he orchestrated them all! During this time, I told everyone that we were just really good friends, but apparently, everyone knew that love was brewing! We both agree that we had never fallen so quickly for another person, but I have to believe the old saying, “When you know, you know.” When I no longer held a position at The Citadel, we went on our first official date that did not consist of watching Netflix during tutoring hours, and we have not looked back since. We are each other’s best friends and partners in crime, and I could not imagine having anyone else by my side through life. The best part of our relationship is that I fall more in love with him each and every day, and I plan to do so for the rest of my life.” – Carly and Matt
