Leonnie and Roey Ohana got married at Pine Lakes Country Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Their wedding was a traditional Jewish celebration that brought family and friends from across the world — including Israel and Tonga — to the South Carolina coast for a day that moved between deep tradition and genuine joy without ever slowing down.
Jewish weddings in Myrtle Beach are uncommon. When one happens, it tends to be something specific. The Ohana wedding was exactly that. A full traditional ceremony under the Chuppah led by Rabbi Doron Aizenman, a reception menu that had guests talking long after the evening ended, and a dance floor that held until the last possible moment. Roey and Leonnie barely left it.
Pine Lakes Country Club was the right venue for this wedding. The property is private, spacious enough for a large international guest list, and flexible enough to accommodate the specific ceremonial and logistical needs of a traditional Myrtle Beach wedding. The outdoor spaces handled the Chuppah ceremony beautifully. The clubhouse reception space gave the evening room to breathe and build.
“Jewish weddings in South Carolina come few and far in between. However, the Jewish community here in Myrtle Beach are quite honorable. Roey and I had visioned a wedding that was very upbeat and elegant. Pine Lakes Country Club took our breath away the moment we looked into the venue. They catered to our every need both religiously and individually. Under the Chuppah, the Rabbis fulfilled a beautiful traditional Jewish ceremony with much emotion, prayers, and of course, excitement. We had family and friends visit from all over the world. From Israel to Tonga, people from all over the world came to celebrate such a joyous day with us. Until this day, all my friends and family continue to rave about the food! From sushi and tuna tartar, shawarma and falafel, to lamb chops and prime rib, no one went home hungry! Our guests were encouraged to dance off all the food with our upbeat DJ from Miami. Roey and I barely left the dance floor! We had so much fun celebrating with all of our family and friends! A special thanks goes out to Pasha and Natallia Belman, they were completely supportive from day one. Working with them is like working with family, almost like we have known them forever. They contributed so much attention to detail, capturing so many emotions in one single day. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism and service, capturing a lifetime full of memories.”

A traditional Jewish Chuppah ceremony requires a setting that can hold the weight of the tradition without competing with it. Pine Lakes Country Club delivered that without any modification. The outdoor ceremony space beneath the pine canopy gave the Chuppah a natural and striking backdrop. The tall pines framed the ceremony area without closing it in, which allowed guests seated across a large layout to feel connected to the moment throughout.
Rabbi Doron Aizenman led the ceremony with the full traditional Jewish structure including prayers, the exchange of vows, and the breaking of the glass. The combination of a formal religious ceremony in an outdoor coastal setting created a visual and emotional contrast that made every moment more meaningful. The Chuppah and decor were designed by Robbie at RSG Event Designs and set a tone of elegant tradition that ran through the entire day.
Portrait sessions at Pine Lakes Country Club offer more variety than most couples expect from a single property. The tall pine rows create natural framing. The open greens provide clean airy backgrounds. The clubhouse exterior adds architectural structure for more formal images. For a wedding with a large international guest list like the Ohana celebration, having all portrait locations within a short walk of each other keeps the timeline clean and the energy moving forward.
Leonnie and Roey were completely natural in front of the camera. The joy of the day was already present and the photography simply followed it. The formal elements of a traditional Jewish wedding did not translate into stiffness. The couple moved through portrait locations the same way they moved through the rest of the day. With confidence, warmth, and no wasted moment.
The reception at Pine Lakes Country Club for Leonnie and Roey was exactly what a Jewish celebration should be. Abundant. Joyful. Loud in the best possible way. The menu was an event in itself — sushi and tuna tartar alongside shawarma and falafel, lamb chops and prime rib. Guests from Israel, from Tonga, from across the United States gathered at tables and stayed far longer than most wedding receptions manage to keep people seated.
When the DJ from Miami opened the dance floor, it did not empty out. The Hora was one of the most energetic moments of the entire day. Guests who had traveled across the world danced together through the full evening. Roey and Leonnie barely left the floor. That energy documents itself when it’s real. Every frame from the reception tells the same story: this was a room full of people who genuinely wanted to be there.
Jewish receptions with a large international guest list and a full traditional program give us more to photograph than almost any other type of wedding day. The Hora, the toasts, the generational mix of guests from different countries, the combination of formal tradition and genuine exuberance. Every part of the evening at Pine Lakes Country Club produced images that hold the complete story of what this wedding actually was.
Jewish weddings require photographers who understand the timeline and structure of the day. The Ketubah signing, the Bedeken veil ceremony, the Chuppah, the Sheva Brachot, the Hora. Each moment has weight and requires specific positioning and anticipation to document correctly. Missing a traditional Jewish ceremony moment is not recoverable. It takes experience and preparation that only comes from having shot Jewish weddings before.
We approach Jewish wedding photography the same way we approach every wedding. Complete familiarity with the day’s structure before we arrive, so that nothing catches us off guard and every significant moment is covered. For the Ohana wedding, that preparation allowed us to move freely through every part of the day without ever pulling the couple away from what was actually happening around them.
